Dates Set for Joni Taylor Basketball Camps

ATHENS, Ga. — Dates for this summer’s Joni Taylor Basketball Camps have been set, it was announced on Tuesday. 

The third camp season under Taylor’s tenure is set to begin in June and is located in the first class facilities of the Stegeman Coliseum Practice Facility and Ramsey Student Center.  

Of the three sessions, two will consist of individual instruction focusing on skill development and training and one will be specifically for teams looking to compete against some of the finest high schools and summer league teams in the southeast. 

Joni Taylor Basketball Camp Dates
Future Lady Dogs Camp: June 4-6th
Team Camp: June 9-11th
Lady Bulldog Day Camp: July 10-13th

Future Lady Dogs Camp
The first session of the summer is an individual camp for girls ages 9-15 and it will take place on June 4-6th. This is a wonderful opportunity for young players to be taught the fundamentals of basketball by both current and former UGA Women’s Basketball players. Campers will be introduced to a variety of drills and stations that will be compounded and made more challenging each day, making it ideal for any skill level. While this session will focus on each individual’s basketball growth, campers will also participate in 5 on 5 games to compete and put their newly developed skills to use. This is a great setting for young athletes to improve their skill level and knowledge of the game while also being placed in team situations. The Future Lady Dog Camp will feature a variety of skill competitions, an All- Star Game and a Championship Game that parents are more than welcome to attend! Campers will have the option of spending the night in supervised dorms on campus or commuting to camp each day. Campers must be a least 12 years old prior to the start of camp to spend the night in the dorms.



Team Camp
The second session of the Joni Taylor Basketball Camp is a team camp for high school varsity and junior varsity teams and AAU programs. The session will take place on June 9-11th and it gives teams the option of participating one or multiple days. Each team will be guaranteed 3 games each day they choose to participate in camp. This highly competitive camp will give teams the opportunity to play some of the premier teams in the southeast while enjoying the state-of-the-art facilities the University of Georgia has to offer in the Stegeman Coliseum Training Facility and Ramsey Student Center. Teams will be able to get an early start in preparing for their upcoming season while also showcasing their skills for the Georgia Women’s Basketball staff, who will be in attendance the entire weekend. Bulldog Day Camp
The Bulldog Day Camp will take place from July 10-13th and is intended to introduce girls in grades 1st through 6th grade to the game of basketball. This individual camp is a beginner level session that will allow young players to learn the fundamentals of basketball in a fun and enjoyable environment. Campers will learn fun drills and activities, be taught nutritional information imperative for growing, young athletes and participate in team building exercises. While majority of the time at camp will be spent on the basketball court, campers will also visit the university pool, participate in an ice cream party and take pictures with Hairy Dawg! Giveaway prizes will be given out to each day and each camper will also receive a camp t-shirt.
