ATHENS, Ga. --- Georgia's Khaalidah Miller was tabbed as SEC Player of the Week by the league office on Monday, a day after she scored a career-high 25 points in the Lady Bulldogs' 75-71 win over No. 8 Kentucky.
For the week, Miller averaged 18.0 points in victories over Alabama and Kentucky by connecting on 52.6 percent of her field goals, 42.9 percent of her three-point attempts and 90.0 percent of her trips to the free throw line.
Miller, a 5-9, junior from Atlanta's Frederick Douglass High School, scored a team-high 11 points and collected a game-high four steals against Alabama last Thursday.
On Sunday, Miller scored 25 points as the No. 13 Lady Bulldogs snapped Kentucky's 34-game home winning streak. She played a large portion of the contest at point guard due to starter Jasmine James' foul trouble. Miller scored 17 second-half points as Georgia erased a 10-point halftime deficit that bulged to 13 early in the second stanza after James picked up her fourth foul with 19:45 left in the contest.
During the week, Miller upped her scoring average in conference games by more than two points – from 8.7 ppg to 10.8 ppg.
Miller is the second Lady Bulldog to earn SEC Player of the Week accolades this season. Jasmine Hassell was honored on Jan. 14 after leading Georgia to victories over Alabama and No. 18 South Carolina. All told, 24 different Lady Bulldogs – including current players Anne Marie Armstrong, Hassell, Jasmine James and Miller – have won SEC Player of the Week a total of 45 times since the award's inception in 1985.
The Lady Bulldogs' next game is this Thursday when Georgia hosts Auburn at 7 p.m. at Stegeman Coliseum. The first 300 UGA students in attendance will receive "Beat Auburn" t-shirts.
