ATHENS-----The Georgia men's tennis team will conclude the fall portion of its schedule this weekend at the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships in New York and the Bulldog Scramble in Athens.

Junior Nathan Pasha and sophomore Austin Smith will open play in the National Indoor Championships Thursday in Flushing, New York. Meanwhile, Ben Wagland, Hernus Pieters, Garrett Brasseaux and Eric Diaz will play in the Bulldog Scramble Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

In New York, Smith is seeded fourth in the 32-player singles draw, and he will take on Notre Dame's No. 31 Greg Andrews. Smith earned an automatic bid to the championships by reaching the quarterfinals of the All-American Championships in October.

No. 32 Pasha will face Tennessee's 24th-ranked Hunter Reese in the first round. This will be the first time the two Atlanta area natives have squared off on the collegiate level. Pasha won the USTA/ITA Southeast Regional Championships at Georgia Tech to clinch a spot in the tournament.

"We are excited to have Nathan and Austin on their way to New York to play in a very elite field," said UGA head coach Manuel Diaz. "It's a significantly reduced field from the others previous grand slam events. There will be some high quality matches and top-notch competition. We're looking forward to seeing those guys play against the very best."

Three Georgia players have reached the final of the National Indoor Championships, including Bo Hodge (2003), Mike Sell (1993) and Mikael Pernfors (1985).

Action at the Bulldog Scramble will begin each day at 9 a.m. with doubles matches indoors. The round robin event features 37 players from the following seven schools: Georgia, Georgia Tech, LSU, Oklahoma, ETSU, Vanderbilt and Furman.
