Bulldogs Honored For 2012 SEC Championship

ATHENS, Ga. --- The Georgia men’s tennis team was honored for its 2012 SEC Tournament title during the first quarter of Saturday’s football game, then watched the Bulldogs defeat Florida Atlantic at Sanford Stadium.

The Bulldogs captured the program’s 34th Southeastern Conference title and eighth tournament crown back on April April 22 in Starkville, Miss., defeating top-seeded and sixth-ranked Kentucky by a 4-1 score. It marked the 21st SEC title under head coach Manuel Diaz’s watch.

Georgia ended the 2012 season with a record of 26-3 and made a run to the NCAA quarterfinals in Athens.

The Bulldogs kicked off the 2012-13 season at home last week, hosting the Southern Intercollegiate Championships, and are next in action in the Napa Valley Classic Sept. 21-23 in Napa, Calif.
