ATHENS, Ga. --- Three members of the Georgia men’s tennis team have received Southeastern Conference honors, including a league-leading three players on the All-SEC first team, the conference office announced Thursday.

Senior KU Singh, sophomore Nathan Pasha, and freshman Ben Wagland received first team All-SEC recognition, while Wagland also landed on the six-player All-Freshman Team.

It marks the first time since 2007 that Georgia has seen three players on the first team, with that squad going on to win the program’s fifth national championship. Georgia is the only school with three players on the first team as Kentucky, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Vanderbilt have two apiece and Auburn, Mississippi State, and Texas A&M one.

Singh, out of Gurgaon, Haryana, India, is on the first team for the second consecutive year after going 17-7 during the regular season and 6-3 in SEC play at No. 1 singles with a team-best 13 ranked wins and one clinching victory, which came against Auburn. Of his ranked victories in-conference, four came vs. the ITA top-40, including Nos. 17, 23, 28, and 40. He entered the post-season on a four-match winning streak.

Pasha, who was named to the All-Freshman Team in 2012, posted a team-leading 27 wins on the regular season, including an 8-2 clip in the SEC to enter the postseason winning six in a row. In doubles, the Atlanta native went a combined 14-6 in dual matches with four ranked wins. Pasha played some No. 1 singles for Georgia this season before settling in at No. 2 or 3, after playing primarily No. 5 and 6 just a season ago.

Wagland is having a breakout year as a freshman, ranked as high as No. 5 in the nation in doubles and No. 41 in singles, where the Sydney, Australia, native spent the most time at No. 2 and 3 for Georgia. He went 21-7 during the regular season, including 6-2 in SEC play, with a team-high six match clinches. In doubles he went 31-11 overall and 13-5 in dual matches, with 10 ranked wins. He was named the conference’s Freshman of the Week on two occasions, most recently on April 3.

Wagland and Pasha were each named to the SEC All-Tournament Team after they lifted Georgia to the championship for the ninth time in school history and the program’s 36th SEC title overall. Wagland was named the event’s Most Valuable Player after he grinded out a three-set tiebreak victory over TAMU’s Junior Ore to clinch the win in the semifinal and defeated Kentucky’s 21st-ranked Tom Jomby in the quarterfinal.

The NCAA will announce the field of 64 as well as the 16 host sites for first and second round regional action for the NCAA Men’s Tennis Championships on Tues., April 30 at 5 p.m. in a live stream on NCAA.com. Singles and doubles draws for the individual tournament will be released May 1.
