ATHENS, Ga. --- Georgia senior men’s tennis player Will Reynolds has been named the Bulldogs’ representative on the 2012 SEC Community Service Team, the league office announced. The Southeastern Conference sponsors teams in all 20 sports, seeking to highlight student-athletes who give back to his or her community through superior service efforts.
The Chattanooga, Tenn., native has extensive volunteer and service experience both prior to and since coming to UGA. He has served as a tennis camp counselor since 2007 at Baylor High School in his hometown and at Georgia, and off the court he has worked with Read Across America (2012), Special Olympics (2011-12), and the SEC Canned Food Drive (2009-11), as well as cooking dinners at an Athens-area homeless shelter.
Reynolds is an SEC Academic Honor Roll selection and this fall reached the doubles quarterfinals at the ITA Southeast Regional in Athens.
He has been the men’s tennis representative to the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) since 2009 and has served as the organization’s vice president since 2011. He will graduate this May after just three years and plans to pursue a master’s degree in social studies education at Georgia.
