TULSA, Okla.-----Georgia sophomore Austin Smith won two more matches on Thursday to advance to the round of 16 at the All-American Championships played at the Case Tennis Center.

Smith, who won three matches in the qualifying rounds earlier in the week to earn a spot in the main draw, first beat Stanford's 37th-ranked John Morrissey, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1, then won another three-set match against Virginia's 20th-ranked Mac Styslinger, 3-6, 6-2, 6-1.

Smith has six wins over ranked opponents in the first month of the 2013-14 season. On Friday, he will face Texas A&M's No. 67 Harrison Adams, who also made his way through the qualifying draw.

"Austin continues to play well," said head coach Manuel Diaz. "He has really worked hard, he is fit, and it is paying off for him. He is getting better as the fall progresses."

In other singles action, Ben Wagland and Nathan Pasha were eliminated from the main draw. Wagland topped 46th-ranked Ryan Shane of Virginia in the first round before falling in three sets to North Carolina's Ronnie Schneider in the round of 32.

Pasha fell to Virginia Tech's 43rd-ranked Amerigo Contini in straight sets to start the day, then dropped a three-set match to Texas' No. 101 Lloyd Glasspool in the consolation draw.

Each of the top six singles seeds were eliminated on the first day of main draw action on Thursday.

In doubles, the second-ranked team of Hernus Pieters and Wagland fell to Duke's 25th-ranked Raphael Hemmeler and Bruno Semenzato, 8-4.

"It was an up-and-down day for us," Diaz said. "We didn't play to our potential in all the singles matches and the last doubles match. Our guys take it hard. They will learn from it and be better because of it."

Singles quarterfinalists, doubles finalists and consolation champions will receive automatic entry into the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships Nov. 7-10 in Flushing Meadows, N.Y.
