ST. HELENA, Calif.-----Georgia sophomore Nathan Pasha and freshman Ben Wagland won their respective singles matches to remain unbeaten in pool play at the Audi Napa Valley Tennis Classic on Saturday.
Pasha defeated Illinois’ Farris Gosea, 6-1, 6-4, while Wagland defeated his USTA junior opponent, 6-2, 6-4. Pasha and Wagland will play the final match of pool play Sunday. The eight pool winners will compete in the PlayBrave USTA Wild Card Shootout, a single-elimination, 10-point tiebreak tournament. The winner will receive a USTA-sponsored wild card into a USTA Pro Circuit event to be determined.
“Nathan and Ben continued their great play today,” said associate head coach Will Glenn. Ben was dinged up a little bit but toughed it out. They have some momentum heading into tomorrow, and we’ll look to finish strong.”
In doubles, the tandem of Pasha and Wagland downed Stanford’s Matt Kandath and John Morrissey, 8-4, while Eric Diaz and Garrett Brasseaux won a match against a pair of USTA juniors, 8-2.
Brasseaux was edged in his singles match by Texas’ Lloyd Glasspool, 2-6, 7-5, 6-3, while Diaz fell to his USTA junior opponent.
