HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The ninth-ranked Georgia men's golf team is in fifth place after one round of the Long Cove Invitational.
The Bulldogs opened the tournament on Friday by firing a 10-over-par 294, six strokes behind Texas (288).
Sophomore Ryan Hybl led Georgia in the first round with an even-par 71. Hybl is tied for sixth place and trails tournament leader Bill Haas of Wake Forest by four strokes.
Senior David Miller followed Hybl with a 2-over 73. Freshman Christo Greyling added a 3-over 74, while senior Bryant Odom carded a 5-over 76 and freshman Donny Wysoczynski posted a 7-over 78.
The 54-hole tournament, Georgia's last event of the fall, will continue on Saturday and will conclude on Sunday.
