TOLEDO, Ohio --- The No. 2-ranked Georgia men's golf team placed fifth on Tuesday at the season-opening Inverness Intercollegiate at the Inverness Club.
The Bulldogs shot a 14-over-par 298 in the final round to wind up at 52-over 904. Southern California claimed the team title at 44-over 896.
Individually, the Bulldogs placed three golfers in the top 20, led by Brendon Todd. The senior shot an even-par 71 in the third round and wound up in ninth at 12-over 225. Medalist honors went to Jon McLean of TCU at 214.
Freshman Hudson Swafford made his Georgia debut by finishing 14th at 13-over 226, including a 5-over 76 on Tuesday. Sophomore Brian Harman closed with a 1-over 72 and finished 19th at 15-over 228. Senior Chris Kirk carded a
final-round 8-over 79 to wind up at 18-over 231, followed by sophomore Adam Mitchell, who also had an 8-over 79 Tuesday, in 41st at 20-over 233.
The Bulldogs will quickly jump back into action as they will play in the Carpet Capital Collegiate Friday through Sunday in Rocky Face, Ga. Live scoring will be available at golfstat.com.
