STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. -- The 12th-ranked Georgia men's golf team placed third on Friday at the Atlanta Intercollegiate, wrapping up the regular-season portion of the 2002 schedule.
The Bulldogs fired a 5-under-par 283 in Friday's final round to conclude the tournament at Eagle's Landing Country Club at even-par 864. Georgia placed third behind No. 10 Auburn (856) and No. 4 Florida (861) -- the same order of finish as last month's SEC Championships.
Georgia now will move on to the NCAA East Regional next Thursday through Saturday at Ansley Golf Club's Settindown Creek in Roswell, Ga. The top 10 teams from the regional will advance to the NCAA Championships later this month in Columbus, Ohio.
Individually, Georgia senior Bryant Odom placed fifth at the Atlanta Intercollegiate at 5-under 211, including Friday's 2-under 70. Graeme McDowell of Alabama-Birmingham finished at 19-under 197 to take medalist honors for the third straight year.
Freshman Donny Wysoczynski followed Odom in 11th at 1-under 215 after firing an even-par 72 on Friday. Sophomore Ryan Hybl placed 15th at 1-over 217 as he carded an even-par 72 in the final round. Senior David Miller led the Bulldogs on Friday with a 3-under 69 to wind up at 5-over 221. Freshman Christo Greyling rounded out the Bulldogs' lineup as he fired a 4-over 76 on Friday and finished at 27-over 243.
