ATHENS, Ga. --- Hudson Swafford of the Georgia men's golf team has been named the SEC Player of the Week, according to an announcement Tuesday by the league office.

Swafford, a freshman from Tallahassee, Fla., placed second in the individual race at the United States Collegiate Championship at the Golf Club of Georgia in Alpharetta. Swafford finished at 2-over 218, three shots behind Webb Simpson of Wake Forest. Behind Swafford's play, the Bulldogs picked up their third team title in four events.

Swafford¹s finish marked his career best, and he now has a scoring average of 73.92. He has finished in the top 5 in two of his last four tournaments.

This marks the second time Swafford has been recognized by the SEC. Last month, he and teammate Brendon Todd were chosen as SEC Golfers of the Week after they tied for fifth individually and paced the Bulldogs to the team crown.

The Bulldogs will return to action Friday through Sunday in the SEC Championship at Sea Island Golf Club on St. Simons Island. Georgia is the defending champion.
