No. 1 Georgia Golfers Stand 10th At USCC
ALPHARETTA --- The No. 1-ranked Georgia men’s golf team is in 10th place after one round of the United States Collegiate Championship. Playing Sunday at the Country Club of the South, the Bulldogs carded a 7-over-par 295. Clemson grabbed the first-round lead with a 5-under 283. “We obviously have our work cut out for us,” Georgia coach Chris Haack said. “But tomorrow’s another day, and we’ll come out swinging. One thing about this team is that it never quits.” Junior Hudson Swafford and sophomore Harris English each paced the Bulldogs on Sunday with 1-over 73s. They are tied for 23rd individually, eight shots behind UCLA’s Erik Flores, who opened with a 7-under 65. Senior Adam Mitchell signed for a 2-over 74, while senior Brian Harman had a 3-over 75. Sophomore Russell Henley had the Bulldogs’ non-counting score of 5-over 77.
