Georgia golfers playing in Augusta

ATHENS, Ga. --- The 12th-ranked Georgia men's golf team will compete this weekend in its final tune-up for the upcoming SEC Championships. The Bulldogs will head to Augusta to play in the Cleveland Golf/ASU Invitational at Forest Hills Country Club. Georgia and the other participating teams will play 36 holes on Saturday and 18 on Sunday. Live scoring will be available at www.golfstatlive.com.

After the ASU Invitational, the Bulldogs will head to the SEC Championships in St. Simons, Ga., April 25-27. Georgia has won a league-high 24 conference titles.

"This is a very important stretch coming up for us," Georgia coach Chris Haack said. "We need to play some of our best golf this weekend to have a chance to win but also to build on as we head toward the postseason." Haack will use a lineup of juniors Matt McQuillan and Ryan Hybl, sophomore David Denham, and freshmen Kevin Kisner and Richard Scott. Kisner leads Georgia with a scoring average of 71.96 and is the reigning SEC Golfer of the Week.

Joining the Bulldogs and host Augusta State in the tournament will be Alabama, Clemson, Duke, East Tennessee State, Fresno State, Georgia Southern, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, North Carolina State, North Florida, Oklahoma State, Purdue, South Carolina, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.
