Bulldogs To Tee It Up In Puerto Rico

ATHENS, Ga. — The No. 9 Georgia men’s golf team will open the spring portion of its schedule next week in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico at the Puerto Rico Classic.

The Puerto Rico Classic will take place Sunday through Tuesday at the Rio Mar Beach and Spa Resort’s River Course, a par-72 track covering 6,945 yards. The 54-hole event begins Sunday with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. ET. 

Georgia will use a lineup of seniors Greyson Sigg and Jaime Lopez Rivarola, sophomores Jack Larkin Jr. and Tye Waller, and freshman Spencer Ralston. Freshman Will Chandler will compete in the individual tournament.

Georgia is currently ranked 9th in the most recent edition of the Golfstat poll, while the Bulldogs are No. 13 in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings.

Joining the Bulldogs for the tournament will be Alabama, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Maryland, Middle Tennessee State, North Carolina, North Carolina State, UNC-Greensboro, Northwestern, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Purdue and Virginia Tech. Live results can be found at BirdieFire.com.

The Bulldogs won the Puerto Rico Classic in 2006, 2007, 2009 and 2015, and finished third last season. Chris Kirk and Hudson Swafford were individual medalists in 2006 and 2009, respectively.
