POWELLS POINT, N.C. --- Georgia’s T.J. Mitchell maintained his individual lead at the ODU/Outerbanks Collegiate Invitational on Monday.

At Kilmarlic Golf Club, Mitchell signed for a 2-under-par 70 to move to 10-under 134 for the tournament. Mitchell will enter Tuesday’s final round with a one-shot lead over Liberty’s Robert Karlsson.

As a team, the 16th-ranked Bulldogs shot a 1-under 287 on Monday to slip into second place. At 18-under 558, Georgia is one stroke behind Liberty after starting the day with a 10-shot advantage. The tournament appears to be a two-horse race as the next-closest team is Winthrop at even-par 576.

“A negative person would say that we gave up a 10-shot lead, but a positive person would say we’re heading into the final round with a shot at winning the tournament,” Georgia coach Chris Haack said. “Whether it’s by one shot or by 10 shots, winning is always the goal. We’re in the hunt, and that’s all a coach can ever ask for. We’re all very excited about the opportunity we have on Tuesday.

“I am also very proud of the way T.J. is playing. You can see that his confidence is at an all-time high. I would love to see him walk out of here with a medalist trophy.”

Michael Cromie and Brian Carter each carded an even-par 72 in the second round, followed by Keith Mitchell at 1-over 73 and Bryden Macpherson at 3-over 75. Keith Mitchell is third at 6-under 138, Cromie is 12th at even-par 144, Macpherson is 15th at 1-over 145 and Carter is 22nd at 2-over 146.

The final round of the ODU/Outerbanks Collegiate Invitational is scheduled for Tuesday. Georgia is scheduled to tee of at 10 a.m. Live results can be found at
