MACON, Ga. --- The top-ranked Georgia men's golf team came in fourth on Sunday in the Brickyard Collegiate Championship.
The Bulldogs fired a third-round 7-under 281 at the Brickyard at Riverside, giving them a three-day total of 11-under 853. Host Mercer snagged team honors at 27-under 837.
Junior Nicholas Reach paced the Bulldogs on Sunday with a 4-under 68. Seniors Michael Cromie and Joey Garber and sophomore Lee McCoy all signed for a 1-under 71. Freshman Greyson Sigg had the Bulldogs' non-counting score of even-par 72.
Mitchell finished sixth individually at 6-under 210, three shots behind tri-medalists Emmanuel Kountakis and Hans Reimers of Mercer and Seth Reeves of Georgia Tech (207). Reach was ninth at 3-under 211, McCoy was 12th at 4-under 212 and Garber was 19th at 2-under 214.
Cromie wound up at 1-over 217, followed by Sigg at 4-over 220, DeMoss at 10-over 226, Derby at 11-over 227 and Straka at 15-over 231. Freshman Jaime Lopez Rivarola withdrew due to an ankle injury.
The Bulldogs will return to action Oct. 14-15 in the Crooked Stick Intercollegiate in Carmel, Ind.
