Georgia Golfers In Fifth At Brickyard

MACON, Ga. --- The No. 1-ranked Georgia men's golf team moved up one spot to fifth place in the Brickyard Collegiate Championship on Saturday.

The Bulldogs fired a 7-under 281 in the second round to go to 4-under 572 for the tournament. Host Mercer has the team lead at 20-under 556, including a 16-under 272 Saturday.

First-round leader Keith Mitchell, a senior playing as an individual, is now eighth at 4-under 140 after carding a 3-over 75 on Saturday. He is four shots behind Georgia Tech's Ollie Schniederjans (136).

From the playing lineup, senior Joey Garber and sophomore Lee McCoy each shot a second-round 3-under 69. Junior Nicholas Reach added a 1-under 71 and freshman Greyson Sigg had an even-par 72. Senior Michael Cromie had the Bulldogs' non-counting score of 1-over 73.

McCoy is 11th at 3-under 141, followed by Garber and Reach in 17th at 1-under 143, Cromie at 2-over 146 and Sigg at 6-over 148.

Also playing as individuals, freshman Parker Derby (1-under 71) moved to 5-over 149, junior Mookie DeMoss (4-over 76) is at 8-over 152, junior Sam Straka (6-over 78) went to 10-over 154 and freshman Jaime Lopez Rivarola (4-over 76) moved to 12-over 156.
