ROCKY FACE, Ga. --- The 15th-ranked Georgia men’s golf team stands fourth after one round of the season-opening Carpet Capital Collegiate at The Farm.
The Bulldogs shot a 1-over-par 289 on Friday, just three shots behind Georgia Tech.
Georgia was led by sophomore Michael Cromie, who signed for a 3-under 69. Cromie is in second place individually, one stroke behind Chattanooga’s Stephan Jaegar.
The Bulldogs also counted an even-par 72 from junior Bryden Macpherson, a 1-over 73 from freshman Nicholas Reach and a 3-over 75 from junior T.J. Mitchell. Freshman Sepp Straka had the Bulldogs’ drop score of 9-over 81.
“I am definitely pleased with our first round,” Georgia coach Chris Haack said. “The guys got through those first-round jitters and logged some pretty solid rounds. We had a few hiccups along the way, but all of those things are correctible. I am looking forward to seeing how we play the rest of the weekend.”
The Carpet Capital Collegiate will continue on Saturday and will conclude on Sunday. The Bulldogs will tee off from 9 to 9:48 a.m. on Saturday. Live scoring is availalble at golfstat.com.
