Georgia Leads after Day One of Carmel Cup
McCoy is tied for first after Friday's round

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. -- The University of Georgia men’s golf team began the fall segment of its 2014-15 season with a successful opening round at The Carmel Cup in Pebble Beach, Calif., on Friday.

The Bulldogs posted a team-best score of 352(-8) to gain an early three stroke lead over the competition, with Texas Tech 355(-5) and Oklahoma 359(-1) representing the closest teams in the field after round one.

Georgia junior Lee McCoy finished tied with Vanderbilt’s Hunter Stewart for the individual lead after Friday’s round with a score of 67(-5). Fellow Bulldog Nicholas Reach finished one shot behind and currently sits tied for third, while Mookie DeMoss shot a score of 71(-1) to finish round one tied for ninth.

Greyson Sigg and Sepp Straka both finished tied in 23rd with individual scores of 73(+1), and freshman Zach Healy shot a 74(+2) in his first competitive round at Georgia to round out the Bulldogs’ opening day performances.

Georgia will resume play at the famous Pebble Beach Golf Links on Saturday morning when Zach Healy tees off at 10 a.m. EST. Current leader Lee McCoy will be the last Bulldog to start tomorrow’s second round with a 10:50 a.m. tee time.
