Georgia Golfers Place 13th In Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS --- The 10th-ranked Georgia men's golf team placed 13th in the Southern Highlands Collegiate Classic on Sunday.

The Bulldogs carded a 9-over 297 in the final round to wind up at 40-over 904. Team honors went to California at 856, the only squad with an under-par total for the weekend.

Senior T.J. Mitchell paced the Bulldogs on Sunday with a 3-under 69. Junior Michael Cromie signed for a 3-over 75, followed by sophomore Sam Straka at 4-over 76 and sophomore Nicholas Reach at 5-over 77. Junior Brian Carter had the non-counting score of 9-over 81.

Mitchell placed seventh individually at 1-over 217. Straka finished at 11-over 227, while Cromie came in at 12-over 228, Reach at 17-over 233 and Carter at 21-over 237. Alabama's Cory Whitsett earned medalist honors with a figure of 6-under 210.

The Bulldogs will return to action March 23-24 at the Linger Longer Invitational in Greensboro, Ga.
