ATHENS-----The fifth-ranked Georgia football team held a two-hour practice in full pads Wednesday afternoon in preparation for the upcoming Capital One Bowl against Nebraska.
The Bulldogs will practice again Thursday and Friday in Athens before they disperse for Christmas. Player and coaches will reconvene in Orlando on Dec. 26 leading up to the Jan. 1 contest against the Cornhuskers.
"It wasn't quite what we've been getting," head coach Mark Richt said about Wednesday's workout. "The bottom line is I thought we got real sloppy today. It was not very good, but we'll be back out here tomorrow morning."
The Bulldogs will be making their 16th consecutive bowl appearance, and Georgia ranks as one of the top-five bowl teams of all time in wins and appearances. The Bulldogs are 26-18-3 all-time in bowl games.
This will be the second meeting between Georgia and Nebraska, with the Huskers claiming a win in the 1969 Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas.
Kickoff for the game between the Bulldogs (11-2) and the 21st-ranked Huskers (10-3) is slated for 1:08 p.m., and the game will be televised by ABC. A win would give the Bulldogs their third season of at least 12 wins.
