ATHENS, Ga. --- The fifth-ranked Georgia football team had a two-hour practice on Saturday as the Bulldogs continued their preparations for the Capital One Bowl game against No. 21 Nebraska on New Year's Day in Orlando.
Saturday's session marked the fourth bowl practice of the week for the Bulldogs. The team has six more practices scheduled in Athens before breaking for Christmas.
"I thought we had another good one out there today, which is saying something with the game still so far away," Georgia coach Mark Richt said. "That’s four practices in a row where we have a good effort by the guys. They are competing well against each other and look like they are making the preparations necessary for this game."
In addition to the normal staff, there were an estimated 100 high school underclassmen and their families at practice on Saturday. The high school players and their families watched practice and then had an opportunity to visit with position coaches.
On Friday, about 30 Bulldogs finished practice and joined back together to play paintball. Exams ended for all UGA students on Wednesday so the option to play paintball was an opportunity Coach Richt and the coaching staff gave to the players.
The Bulldogs will reconvene Dec. 26 in Orlando for the final preparations.
The Capital One Bowl will be played Jan. 1 at 1 p.m. and will be televised by ABC.
