ATHENS-----University of Georgia freshman linebacker Leonard Floyd has been named to the SEC All-Freshman Team, it was announced Thursday by the league office. The All-Freshman Team was voted on by the league’s 14 head coaches, who were not allowed to vote for their own players.

Floyd led all SEC freshmen in the regular season with 6.5 sacks. The Eastman, Ga., native has started seven games in his rookie season and has registered 47 tackles and 8.5 tackles for loss. He leads the team with 22 quarterback pressures.

Floyd had a season-high eight tackles in Georgia’s win over No. 6 LSU on Sept. 28, and he recorded seven stops against Vanderbilt and six at Georgia Tech on Nov. 30. He had two sacks against North Texas.

Floyd and the Bulldogs will face Nebraska in the TaxSlayer.com Gator Bowl Jan. 1 in Jacksonville, Fla.
