Bulldogs Begin Preparations For Georgia Tech

Nov. 25, 2013

ATHENS, Ga. --- The Georgia football team began preparations for this week's matchup with Georgia Tech by holding a one-hour, full-pads session under the lights on the Woodruff Practice Fields on Monday.

The Bulldogs are 7-4 overall and wound up 5-3 in the Southeastern Conference, while the Yellow Jackets are 7-4 overall and went 5-3 in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Saturday's game in Atlanta will kick off at 3:30 p.m. and will be televised nationally by ABC.

Monday's practice was the first for the Bulldogs since their 59-17 win over Kentucky last Saturday.

"Georgia Tech has an offensive scheme that we don't see every day, so our preparation will be crucial this week," Georgia coach Mark Richt said. "It's important that our scouts give us a good look to help us get ready. They did a good job tonight and we need them to keep doing it the rest of the week. We're off to a good start."

Richt said the captains for Saturday's game will be center David Andrews on offense, end Garrison Smith on defense, and linebacker Kosta Vavlas and fullback Corey Campbell on special teams.

In other news, Smith was named the Southeastern Conference Defensive Lineman of the Week for his efforts against Kentucky. He was the Bulldogs' second-leading tackler with seven stops, including two sacks and three tackles for loss of 11 yards, and forced a pair of fumbles. Smith helped anchor a defense that held Kentucky to just 211 total yards on offense, including 62 on the ground.
