ATHENS, Ga. --- The Georgia Bulldogs (4-3, 3-2 SEC) practiced in full pads for approximately 90 minutes on Tuesday afternoon in Athens, their first workout of the week since they have an open date and no game this Saturday.
"Considering we don't have a game for a while and that we've had a challenging stretch since our last open date, I thought the guys got after it pretty good today," head coach Mark Richt said. "It was definitely a good day."
Georgia will return to action a week from Saturday when the Bulldogs face the Florida Gators (4-3, 3-2 SEC) in their annual neutral site battle in Jacksonville, Fla. Georgia will practice again on Thursday before taking the weekend off.
This week is about addressing fundamentals according to senior defensive lineman Garrison Smith, who has served as a team captain for six of the Bulldogs' first seven games.
"It's about fundamentals and up improving as a whole as a defense and as a team," Smith said. "It's about getting better. You think about (next week's game) some already, but right now you just have to focus on the small things and where we can improve from the past games - games that we've won and games that we've lost. We're just thinking about those small things that can help us get better and keep us from getting beat."
Next Saturday's game with the Gators will be broadcast nationally by CBS, with kickoff slated for just after 3:30 p.m. ET.
