ATHENS, Ga. --- Georgia sophomore tailback Todd Gurley has been named the Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Week following the Bulldogs’ 38-35 loss at No. 8 Clemson, according to a league announcement on Monday.

Gurley has also been named the National Running Back of the Week by the College Football Performance Awards.

This is Georgia’s first SEC weekly award this season.  Gurley was named the SEC Freshman of the Week three times last year.

Gurley, a 6-1, 232-pound native of Tarboro, N.C., ran for a career-high 154 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries (12. 8 avg.).  His performance included a career-long 75-yard touchdown on his first carry.

This marked Gurley’s 10th 100-yard game of his career as the Bulldogs accumulated 545 total yards on offense, including 222 on the ground.

The Bulldogs (0-1) host South Carolina (1-0) in their SEC opener in Sanford Stadium on Saturday.  ESPN will televise the matchup at 4:30 p.m.
