Georgia has perhaps the strongest 1-2 punch in the SEC with the return of Todd Gurley (6-1, 232, So.) and Keith Marshall (5-11, 219, So.) at tailback. A year ago, Gurley rushed for 1,385 yards - the second-highest total by a true freshman at Georgia, trailing only Herschel Walker - and scored 17 touchdowns. He garnered Freshman All-America, All-SEC, and Freshman All-SEC accolades. Marshall added 759 yards and eight touchdowns, pacing the Bulldogs with a 6.5-yardsper- carry average. Gurley and Marshall accounted for 84 percent of Georgia's yards and 78 percent of its touchdowns on the ground. The Bulldogs also return Brandon Harton (5-6, 180, Sr.), Kyle Karempelis (5-9, 180, Jr.) and Alex Parsons (5-10, 188, Sr.) at tailback. Early enrollee J.J. Green (5-9, 183, Fr.) and Dominic Bryan (6-0, 236, RFr.) will give Georgia additional options.
At fullback, Merritt Hall (5-11, 226, RSo.) appeared in 12 games last year, including six as the starter. He will be backed up by Quayvon Hicks (6-2, 257, So.), Corey Campbell (5-10, 217, Sr.), Chris Young (6-1, 235, Sr.) and Taylor Maxey (5-10, 220, Jr.).
