New defensive line coach Chris Wilson inherits a position hit hard by graduation and early departures, but he still has three lettermen back, including one starter. Garrison Smith (6-3, 299, Sr.) emerged as a force at end last season, posting 57 tackles. Ray Drew (6-5, 276, Jr.) added 23 stops after making a successful transition to end. The Bulldogs also return Sterling Bailey (6-3, 282, RSo.) and Clint Kirk (6-3, 289, Sr.) at end. Nose Mike Thornton (6-1, 290, Jr.) played in all 14 games a year ago, primarily on special teams. Georgia also brings back John Taylor (6-4, 336, RFr.), who made strides during a redshirt year. Early enrollees Chris Mayes (6-4, 321, RSo.) and John Atkins (6-4, 322, Fr.) participated in spring drills. Mayes had 17 tackles for Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in 2011 and redshirted last season.
