Georgia Freshman Hunter Atkinson Will Not Pursue Football Career

June 18, 2014

ATHENS -- University of Georgia freshman tight end Hunter Atkinson of Oakwood has decided not to pursue his football career further and will concentrate on opportunities associated with his long term career goals.

"We will miss Hunter in our freshman class but understand his decision and wish him nothing but the best in achieving his career objectives," said UGA head coach Mark Richt.

Atkinson, a graduate of West Hall High School, was an All-State performer as a senior at West Hall.

"Georgia is a great school with both athletic and academic opportunities and I want to thank Coach Richt and the other coaches for their interest and all they have done for me over the past few months," said Atkinson. "I realized I have other career goals and want to pursue those interests."
