Aron White Named Finalist For John McLendon Postgraduate Scholarship

ATHENS-----Former University of Georgia tight end Aron White has been named one of 11 finalists for the 2013 John McLendon Postgraduate Scholarship, according to an announcement by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA). 

The John McLendon Memorial Minority Blue Ribbon Committee will offer five $10,000 postgraduate scholarships to senior-level minority students who intend to pursue a graduate degree in athletics administration. Students are required to have a minimum grade point average of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale and have demonstrated leadership qualities on an institutional or community level. 

White earned a bachelor’s degree in management from UGA in December 2010 and is currently pursuing a master’s degree. He was one of 11 FBS student-athletes named to the 2011 Allstate American Football Coaches Association Good Works Team. White caught nine passes for 101 yards and four touchdowns as a senior in 2011.

The 10 other finalists for the John McLendon Postgraduate Scholarship include Dominique Alexander, Ohio State; Charlotte Armstead, Norfolk State; William Baggett, Baylor; Dymond Bush, Hampton; Stacy Dally, Augustana; Jasmine Edwards, Rutgers; Christopher Jones, North Carolina Central; Faimie Kingsly, Denver; Oscar Ramirez Jr., Texas A&M; and Tracie Sneed, Jacksonville.
