Seven Bulldogs Sign NFL Free Agent Contracts

ATHENS, Ga. --- Seven former Georgia football players have signed NFL free agent contracts since the league's draft wrapped up on Sunday.

Four of the former Bulldogs signed with three teams from the NFC. Both Tony Taylor of Watkinsville and Gordon Ely-Kelso of Athens signed contracts with the Atlanta Falcons, Danny Verdun Wheeler of Thomson signed with the Chicago Bears and the Seattle Seahawks picked up Nick Jones, who is from Bowdon.

Georgia's other three former players inked deals with two teams from the AFC. While Danny Ware of Rockmart and Jarvis Jackson of Atlanta signed with the Tennessee Titans, Tra Battle of Forsyth signed with the San Diego Chargers.

Four Bulldogs were drafted during the first six rounds of the draft. Quentin Moses (65th pick Oakland Raiders), Charles Johnson (83rd pick Carolina Panthers), Martrez Milner (133rd pick Atlanta Falcons) and Ken Shackleford (190th pick St. Louis Rams) give Georgia 36 players who were selected during the past six NFL drafts.
