Bulldogs Start Final Week Of Spring
April 18, 2017

ATHENS, Ga. --- The Georgia football team practiced for two and a half hours in the Indoor Athletic Facility as the final week of spring training arrived.

Georgia will have its final practice at the Woodruff Practice Fields on Thursday before the annual G-Day scrimmage on Saturday at Sanford Stadium.  Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.  Gates will open at 11 a.m. and the lettermen's flag football game is scheduled to start at 11:30 a.m.

For the Bulldogs who have played in the game before, G-Day is another opportunity for them to make strides towards improving for the 2017 campaign.

"It's another day to get better," said junior tailback Nick Chubb, who finished with 1,130 yards and eight touchdowns last year.  "It is another practice for us, just with a lot of fans in attendance.  We will focus on executing our fundamentals and everything we have been working on this spring."

Head coach Kirby Smart has challenged the defense throughout the spring practice to step up the intensity.  Returning linebackers Lorenzo Carter and Reggie Carter, who will both be seniors, are eager for the defense to prove what they can do.

"Everybody is working and getting better," said inside linebacker Reggie Carter.  "This is a great linebacker group.  Monty (Rice) has done a great job since joining us earlier this year and everybody is competing each and every day."

Outside linebacker Lorenzo Carter wants to end his Bulldog career on a positive note.

"I felt like individually and as a team, there was unfinished business last year," Lorenzo Carter said.  "We didn't close out last season like we wanted to.  Also the opportunity to go out there and put the `G' on, in addition to graduating, was important to me."

UGA will use G-Day to implement the SEC's Clear Bag Policy, which will go into effect at all SEC venues beginning this fall.  The policy will also be in effect, beginning in the 2017-18 competition year, at all of UGA's ticketed sports venues: Sanford Stadium, Stegeman Coliseum (men and women's basketball, gymnastics) and Foley Field (baseball).  More information on the SEC Clear Bag Policy can be found at: http://georgiadogs.com/clear-bag-policy.
