ATHENS-----The Georgia football team held its next-to-last practice before the annual G-Day game Thursday afternoon at the Woodruff Practice Fields. The Bulldogs will practice again on Friday before the G-Day game Saturday at 3 p.m. at Sanford Stadium.

"It was a pretty good practice," head coach Mark Richt said. "There was a little bit more action and spirit than I expected. Usually this is one where they've had just about enough before the game, so I thought we had good intensity and we got as much out of one hour of practice as you can get. It was a good day."

The Bulldogs practiced for one hour in shoulder pads before joining a group of former Georgia players for a letterman's dinner.

Richt said after practice that several players will sit out Saturday's game with injuries, including Shawn Williams, Malcolm Mitchell, Faton Bauta and Keith Marshall.

"It would have been nice to see Keith," Richt said. "He's definitely a guy who we feel like we did a good job in recruiting. He's a talented, hard working guy. Both he and Faton are doing an outstanding job in school. This mid-year experience has been good for them."

The UGA Athletic Association will be teaming up with the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia during G-Day to host a canned food drive. Fans are asked to bring in a bag of canned food to be admitted to the annual game. Bins will be set up at the Main Gate as well as gates 2, 4, 6 and 9 to accept the canned goods.

Donation stations will also be in place for monetary contributions, as one dollar equals four pounds of food. All canned food and proceeds will go to assisting families in Northeast Georgia.

Saturday's game can be heard on the Bulldog Radio Network and on Sirius Radio 212 and XM 199.
