Georgia Football Has 10th Spring Practice
April 11, 2017

We talked to Jeb Blazevich, Isaiah Wynn, and Natrez Patrick.

ATHENS, Ga. --- With temperatures reaching 80 degrees, the Bulldog football team practiced for nearly three hours on Tuesday afternoon at the Woodruff Practice Fields.

Georgia will practice on Thursday and Saturday of this week and then have another pair of training sessions next week before the annual spring game.  The spring finale will be the G-Day intrasquad game on Saturday, April 22, at 2 p.m.

Following Tuesday's practice, sophomore defensive back Deandre Baker talked about his development going into his third season.

"I am always wanting to get better," said Baker, who finished with 31 tackles and two interceptions in 2016 while starting seven games.  "I want to elevate my game next season.  I have been working hard on my ball skills.  I know I need to work on not letting the ball hit the ground when it's thrown my way and intercept it."

Sophomore inside linebacker Natrez Patrick played in 10 games last season and was still the second-leading tackler with 59 stops, including 4.5 tackles for loss and a sack.  After Tuesday's season, Patrick talked about what makes freshman tailback Brian Herrien valuable to the Bulldogs.

"Brian just keeps pushing it and pushing it," said Patrick.  "The way he works every day makes him the player that he is.  I think he is a self-motivated guy.  I'd say Brian endeared himself to us almost immediately and everyone feeds off of how hard he works."

UGA will use G-Day to implement the SEC's Clear Bag Policy, which will go into effect at all SEC venues beginning this fall.  The policy will also be in effect, beginning in the 2017-18 competition year, at all of UGA's ticketed sports venues: Sanford Stadium, Stegeman Coliseum (men and women's basketball, gymnastics) and Foley Field (baseball).  More information on the SEC Clear Bag Policy can be found at: http://georgiadogs.com/clear-bag-policy.
