Georgia Football Has Second Of Three Consecutive Practices

March 29, 2013

ATHENS, Ga. --- Georgia's football team practiced for the second day in a row on Friday afternoon as the squad has its second scrimmage of the spring scheduled for Saturday morning.

The Bulldogs worked out for just over an hour under sunny skies and with the temperature hovering the mid- to low-60s.  Following the session, head coach Mark Richt was pleased with his team's work.

"We had a shortened practice today to try and save some energy for Saturday's scrimmage," said Richt.  "I thought we got some good work in on some Red Zone plays and got the chance to practice our one-minute offense.  Marshall Morgan drilling two field goals during some of those drills was probably one of the highlights out there today.  There was also some good passing and catching going on, which is always nice to see with G-Day coming up."

Senior flanker Rantavious Wooten sat out Friday's practice with an illness while junior linebacker Brandon Burrows was also on the sideline (concussion).

This marked the eighth practice session of the spring.  Including the second scrimmage of the spring on Saturday morning and the annual G-Day game on April 6, the Bulldogs have seven more practices scheduled.

Friday also marked day two of the annual UGA spring football clinic for high school coaches.  Jon Gruden, who is currently an NFL analyst with ESPN after leading the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the 2003 Super Bowl victory, was the guest speaker during Friday's session.

Former Bulldog and current All-Pro kicker for the Minnesota Vikings Blair Walsh was also one of the clinic's speakers on Friday.

"We finished up the coaching clinic today and I thought everything went great," Richt said.  "We always appreciate the coaches making the effort to come here and attend these each year."
