ATHENS-- John Thomas, Director of Football Strength and Conditioning at Penn State the past 20 years, has been named Sr. Associate Director of Strength and Conditioning at the University of Georgia according to an announcement Monday by UGA head coach Mark Richt.
Richt also announced that Sherman Armstrong, founder and head performance specialist at Vast Sports Performance, has been named Associate Strength and Conditioning Coach.
Thomas, 1997 National Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year, had also served as Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at the U.S. Military Academy (West Point).
He is a graduate of Muskingum College (Ohio).
Armstrong's duties at Vast included training competitors in speed, agility, and quickness on the high school, collegiate, and professional levels. A graduate of the University of Illinois, Armstrong is a four-time All-American and two-time Olympic Trials finalist in the 400 hurdles.
