Georgia Post-Game Quotes

Georgia Head Coach Mark Richt

On Aaron Murray... "He went to the hospital to get an MRI and we'll just wait and see. He hurt it on the long run and it was bothering him. ... Before the injury, he did a good job. He's broken some records that probably won't be broken for a long time. He's played at a high level, especially this year."

On the team's play... "The boys practiced well all week. I think they were sincere about wanting to play well for the seniors. And our honorary captain, Bill Goldberg, did a good job. He spoke to the boys right before the Dog Walk. I wish we could use him every week. He scared me. I would play hard too."

On Hutson Mason... "The second-team QB has got to stay ready because they never know when their opportunity will happen. He's been practicing well for a long time but he hasn't had a lot of opportunities. For him to get playing time and to play well was good to see. ... He's a sharp kid and he knows our system. We have a lot of faith in his abilities."

On the defense... "Overall, it was a very good performance by our defense. I thought they played extremely well throughout."

On the seniors... "What a great bunch of guys. They've led well. With all the wacky things that happened, we never flinched as a team, and that's because our leadership is so strong. ... It was tremendous to see how our fans responded to them during Senior Day."

QB Hutson Mason

On the offense... "We did great. I'm not sure on the number of drives or plays that we had, but I think we scored on almost every drive. We can build on this moving forward. We have a big game against Georgia Tech coming up and we're going to be ready for it."

On seeing significant playing time... "I didn't really feel nervous, but more excited. I think that it's good to get out there in a game like this--this is probably the first time I've played in something other than a 'spring-like' crowd. I think this is good because it helps me get out my first-game jitters...Every time I get to go out on the field and play I get excited. It's a blessing to be able to play here in front of all of these great fans. I just try to have fun."

TE Arthur Lynch

On Aaron Murray's injury... "It's really unfortunate, especially the way that he's played the last couple of games and really the entire season. This one in particular is tough because I know it was an emotional one for him. It's just a shame. I'm just hoping for the best." On Hutson Mason's performance... "He did great. There's no drop-off of expectations from anyone on this team. Everyone knows that he has the ability to run this offense with efficiency. If Hutson is in the game, it's his team."

OG Chris Burnette

On the game... "This was a great win for us. Everyone played well--offense, defense and special teams. This is a great way to go out. I'm going to miss playing in front of these fans and in this stadium. I've been blessed."

DE Garrison Smith

On his emotions... "It's a good emotion. I accomplished everything that I wanted to accomplish. I wanted everyone to know that I'm a good football player and I think I proved that. I made my coaches proud and my parents proud, so when I look back, I'll have no regrets. I left it out on the field. I played my hardest on every play. I really will have no regrets."

On the defense... "This was our best game. We made a few mistakes but we'll correct them. We're getting better every game. And this is a young defense--I'm excited to watch them next season. I think I'm the only senior leaving, and they're getting so much better every day. I see it on the film and I see it on the field. They're going to be special next season."

Kentucky Post-Game Quotes

Kentucky Head Coach Mark Stoops

Opening Statement... "It was a tough night all the way around. We were not good enough in any area, starting with myself and the assistant coaches. It was not acceptable, and we didn't have a good enough effort or good enough preparation. You have to give credit to Georgia. They came in with an attitude and took it to us from the opening kickoff to the end of the game."

On the game... "We were not competitive, and that has a lot to do with Georgia and that has a lot to do with us. We were not prepared for this game."

On missing its starting corners... "I don't think having them would have made much of a difference. I would hope we would have been more competitive and had some different packages. It hurt a little bit, but we were beat from start to finish."

On any changes... "I think there is no mystery that we need some changes. We are working through this, but it's a tough night. No one likes to go through nights like this. We have been competitive and we have fought our way through games, but tonight is game that I am not real proud of. I told the team that. It starts with me and I didn't do a good enough job tonight."

On preparations for Tennessee... "We are going to get back to work on Monday. Obviously some guys are going to be disappointed. Things get tough as you go through a season, and we aren't running from that. We're kind of limping in to the end of the season, but you have to regroup and that's what I told them. We are going to have to go back to work, correct these mistakes and have guys who are all in with this program and are ready to move forward."

On what to play for against Tennessee... "I hope that we will play for pride. You only get 12 opportunities to play if you aren't going to go to a bowl game. I hope we are always playing for pride and trying to change the culture of this program. We will be playing for our seniors. We have some good guys in there, and I hope that the team wants to play for them and lay it all on the line and bounce back. There have been some games this year that, win or lose, you could take something away from it. Tonight's game was not one of those. It would be good to bounce back and play real well, and I expect us to do that."

RB Dyshawn Mobley

On the loss... "Like Coach Stoops said, we didn't come prepared enough tonight. I give props to them [Georgia]. They pretty much whipped us all night."

On if Kentucky's suspensions had an impact on the team's preparation for the game... "We just have to come prepared. We put that on the backburner. That didn't bother us one bit."

On what the team will do going into the final game... "We're definitely going to go back and get way more prepared than we were this game."

RB Jojo Kemp

On his injury on the last play of the first half... "I twisted my ankle, but everything's fine. I've been having ankle problems since high school, so it was just a little scary. I'm good."

On Coach Stoops' motivation behind the suspensions... "He was just trying to set an example. He wants to keep pushing this program in the right direction, so he doesn't want anything to bring us down."

QB Maxwell Smith

On the suspensions... "We have rules and regulations and whatever happens with those, if you break the rules and regulations, things are going to happen. And that goes for any school in this country."

On whether this was the team's worst loss this season... "Yeah definitely. This seems like the worst one of them all. The turnovers we had. Just dumb things we were doing. I couldn't tell you why this was the worst, but it just didn't feel good at all."
