Bulldogs Top Vols in Wild Shootout 51-44
The Georgia Bulldogs topped the Tennessee Volunteers 51-44 in an exciting shootout Saturday in Sanford Stadium remaining unbeaten on the year at 5-0 (3-0 SEC). Georgia amassed 560 yards of offense against the Vols including 282 on the ground and scored more than 40 points for a record 5th time to start the year.
The freshmen duo of Keith Marshall and Todd Gurley again shined for Georgia. Marshall ended the day with 164 rushing yards and two TDs on just ten carries. Gurley, equally effective, totaled 130 rushing yards and three scores on 24 carries.
Not to be outdone, UT's Rajion Neal tallied 104 yards and a score on the ground.
Murray had another big day connecting on 19 of 25 passes for 278 yards and 2 touchdowns. He found Michael Bennett twice for scores. Murray was intercepted off a deflection that resulted in a Tennessee return for a touchdown giving the Vols their first score of the day.
The Georgia defense harassed Tyler Bray forcing a 24-44 281 yard passing day that included three interceptions, two by Sanders Commings.
Bennett had 70 yards on 5 catches to go along with his two touchdowns. Arthur Lynch added 3 catches for 75 yards.
Georgia rushed out to a 21-10 first quarter lead but Tennessee managed to tie it up by halfitme.
