Gurley, Georgia Bullies Buffalo in Opener, 45-23
Gurley scored a touchdown on his second carry, a 10-yard run where he broke a pair of tackles to get in the endzone. After the Bulldogs allowed Buffalo to answer back with a touchdown, Gurley took the ensuing kick-off and raced 100-yards for a score. In the fourth quarter, Gurley broke through the line and dashed for a 55-yard score. On the day, Gurley had 8 carries for 100 yards.
Murray's big score of the day was a 63-yard connection to Tavarres King. Murray was not done as he hit Rantavious Wooten perfectly over the shoulder from 38-yards out. Murray finished his scoring with a 12-yard strike to Michael Bennett.
Georgia's defense gave up 16 points in the first half. Coach Grantham's boys were tested giving up two touchdowns and allowing Buffalo all the way to the 1-yard line before an end-of-half field goal. But in the second half, Georgia's defense responded liked the highly ranked defense they were pegged by many to be, shutting out the Bulls until late into the 4th quarter when the game was well in hand.
Next week Georgia travels to Columbia, Missouri to take on one of the SEC's new teams, the Missouri Tigers. Kickoff is slated for 7:45 p.m. ET on ESPN2. Georgia hosts Florida Atlantic on September 15th for a 7:30 p.m. game in Sanford Stadium.
