Program Coordinator, Defense

Michael Kelly, a native of Ocala, Fla., joined the Georgia football staff in the summer of 2011 as a program coordinator for the Bulldogs' defense. Kelly switched to one of the graduate assistants on defense during the 2012 spring practice.

Kelly spent the past three seasons before 2011 working as a defensive assistant for the coaching staff at Alabama helping with daily practice execution and breakdown, game day team meetings and recruiting functions and summer camps. Kelly also handled situational breakdowns such as run game and goal line during the 2009 and 2010 campaigns.

Before transferring to Alabama, Kelly started 10 games at linebacker and deep snapper at Concordia University, a Division III school in Chicago, in 2007. He ranked second on the team with 60 tackles, including 7.0 tackles for 33 yards lost, 2.5 sacks for -18 yards and one interception which he returned for 20 yards.

Kelly attended The Villages High School, where he was a three-year captain and four-year letterman for the football team. He also lettered in baseball for three years.

Kelly, who is the son of Mike and Becky Kelly, received his bachelor's degree in Kinesiology from Alabama in 2011. His grandfather, Mikey Kelly, was an All-American defensive end for Florida in the 1950s.
