Jonathan Batson, a native of Charlotte, N.C., and graduate of Providence Day School, was named a graduate assistant on offense for the University of Georgia's coaching staff following the 2012 spring practice. He will be mainly assisting offensive coordinator Mike Bobo with the quarterbacks during the 2012 season.
Batson transferred to Georgia from N.C. State before suiting up for the Bulldog football team in 2008 and 2009. He lettered in 2009 as a backup quarterback and appeared in one game for Georgia during his career.
Graduating from UGA with a degree in Economics in May 2011, Batson followed up his playing career by serving as a student assistant for the offense in 2010and an offense's program coordinator in 2011.
Batson completed his prep career at Providence Day School by setting a school record with more than 4,100 yards passing and 41 touchdowns in just two seasons while leading the Chargers to the 2005 state championship. He lettered three years in football and four years in baseball and was all-state in both sports at Providence.
His mother, Angie, his father, Barry, and his sister, Jessica, all join Batson as University of Georgia graduates.
