2013 Mark Fox Basketball Camp
May 8, 2013
ATHENS --- Dates for the 2013 Mark Fox Basketball Camp have been finalized, and the many different sessions offered promise to meet every camper's needs.
The 2013 Mark Fox Basketball Camp will offer young boys the best of basketball instruction and summertime fun. Fox has assembled a staff for the camp that will include all of the Georgia assistant coaches and other outstanding college coaches, as well as current Bulldog players to instruct the campers on the various aspects of the game.
The camp is considered an educational opportunity in athletics. It is designed to teach fundamentals, develop individual skill, and instill the confidence that all young ballplayers should acquire in order to increase their basketball potential.
"Summer camp is an exciting time for everyone in our program," Fox said. "We want to get as many young people from around the state on campus as we can to teach them this great game of basketball. Our camp is just as much fun as it is intense competition and instruction. We promise that each camper will have a fulfilling experience during his stay here."
Boys from ages eight to 18 who wish to improve their basketball skills are encouraged to attend the camp. Each person will be grouped according to age, size, and ability so that he or she will compete in a group that's best-suited to develop his talents and insure enjoyment during team competition. Special instructions will be designed to fully develop each player regardless of basketball background.
In addition, several different camp sessions have been established to meet the desires of all campers. They include:
Elite Camp: An intense, 4-hour clinic focused on improving fundamental skills and implementing those skills in 5-on-5 games. Camp is for players in 9th-12th grades and will run from 1-5 p.m. Check-in begins at 12:30 p.m. Cost is $40.
Team Camps: This is a great opportunity for any team to improve its sportsmanship, teamwork, execution, as well as many other areas of the game. We will provide a competitive atmosphere as each team will play a series of games against other high school competition. This camp will not only allow a team to grow as individuals and as a unit, but will also allow you to gain an edge on your competition for the upcoming season.
Shooting Camp: A 4-hour session where campers will receive individualized shooting instruction. The proper techniques and drills to become a better shooter will be emphasized. Camp is for players in 3rd-12th grades and will run from 1-5 p.m. Cost is $40.
Resident & Commuter Camp: The Resident Camp gives us a chance to teach and evaluate players over an extended period of time. Along with comprehensive work on fundamental skills, campers will compete in individual skills contests and play in 5-on-5 games. Campers 12 years of age (as of Sept. 1) and older can choose to stay overnight in UGA student housing, or campers of all ages can commute to camp each day from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Cost is $385 for residents and $300 for commuters.
