ATHENS, Ga. --- Men's basketball coach Mark Fox was awarded a contract extension and salary adjustment Thursday by action of the University of Georgia Athletic Association Board of Directors Executive Committee.
The committee met via conference call and approved the salary adjustment from his current $1.3 to $1.7 million annual compensation. He also received a one-year contract extension which extends his contract to five years through 2016.
"Mark and his staff have been exceptional in energizing our men's basketball program," said UGA Director of Athletics Greg McGarity. "We are very proud of the way Mark represents our institution, and this action is indicative of the confidence we have in the leadership of our program. We recognize the tremendous amount of time and effort it takes to establish a competitive program the right way, and there is no doubt in our mind that Mark and his staff can get the job done here at UGA."
"Mark has been extraordinary and brought a new level of excitement to our basketball fans," said Michael F. Adams, president of The University of Georgia. "He has done things the right way, and I look forward to many more years of his leadership in our basketball program."
Fox just completed his second year as head coach of the Bulldogs and led the team to the NCAA Tournament.
