March 11, 2014

ATHENS ---- University of Georgia sophomore guard Charles Mann was named to the Coaches’ All-Southeastern Conference second team, as announced by the league office in Birmingham on Tuesday.

Mann, a 6-4 guard from Alpharetta, has led Georgia in scoring for the entirety of the 2014 season, and he currently averages 13.4 points per game.  Playing mostly at point guard for the Bulldogs, he also leads them in minutes (30.0/game); assists (3.2/game); steals (1.1/game); as well as Free Throws Made (170) and Attempted (246).   In fact, his 246 attempts are the third-most in a single season in UGA history, while his 170 makes are the fourth-most in program history.  He also ranks 17th and 35th, respectively, among all NCAA Division I players in those categories.

Mann enters post-season play having recorded the first double-double of his career last Saturday in Georgia’s win over LSU.  He had team-high totals of 22 points and 10 rebounds in the Bulldogs’ 12th SEC win of the season.

This marks the second post-season honor the league’s 14 coaches have bestowed upon Mann in his career.  He was named to their Freshman All-SEC squad in 2013.  He was also named as the SEC’s Player of the Week on Jan. 13 of this season after scoring 40 points over a pair of Georgia victories.

Georgia begins play in the 2014 Southeastern Conference Tournament on Friday at approximately 9:30 p.m. against an opponent yet to be determined.
