ATHENS, Ga.--Georgia sophomore guard Charles Mann was named as the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week, according to an announcement made by the SEC on Monday.
Mann was Georgia's leading scorer in both of Georgia's wins last week. On Wednesday, Mann had 18 points, six rebounds and four assists in 42 minutes of action in the Bulldogs' 70-64 road win over No. 21 Missouri. The Alpharetta native scored five points in the final four minutes of regulation to extend the game into overtime and, in overtime, put Georgia ahead with a layup in traffic with just 34 seconds left.
On Saturday, Mann scored 22 points and pulled down seven rebounds in Georgia's 66-58 win over the Crimson Tide. Mann went 13-for-17 from the free throw stripe, including a pair late in the second half to secure the Georgia win. Mann played a team-high 36 minutes in Saturday's win.
Mann leads Georgia this season with 14.1 points per game. He is the first Bulldog to garner SEC Player of the Week honors since former Georgia player Kentavious Caldwell-Pope won last February.
Georgia (8-6, 2-0) goes for its third straight SEC victory Tuesday night at Florida. Tipoff is at 7:00 p.m. and the game will be carried on ESPNU.
