ATHENS, Ga.--The Georgia men's basketball team won its third consecutive game, beating the visiting Lipscomb Bisons 84-75 Saturday evening at Stegeman Coliseum. Because of final exams, it was Georgia's first game in nearly two weeks.

Georgia (4-4) was led offensively by Brandon Morris who scored 17 points. Nemanja Djurisic and Donte' Williams also scored 15 and 14, respectively.

"It's good to win," said head coach Mark Fox. "I thought we did some nice things offensively. We were able to defend pretty well in the first half and build a significant lead. One thing we talked about coming into the game was taking away the three-point line, which we did a very good job of after the first few minutes in the first half and then in the second half allowed ten threes. We just didn't defend well with the lead, which is a real sign of immaturity. But it's good to win and beat a real hard-nosed crew."

After a slow start to the game, Georgia used three consecutive three-pointers midway through the half to take a 19-16 lead. The Bulldogs connected on six three-pointers in the first-half, tying a season-high for three-pointers made in a game. Georgia's defense held the Bisons (4-6) to just three points in the first half's final seven minutes and the Bulldogs took a 40-27 lead into halftime.

Lipscomb used an 11-1 run to cut the Georgia lead to just four points with eight minutes remaining. Leading by six with just three minutes left in the game, Morris hit a three-pointer and followed with a fastbreak dunk to bolster Georgia's lead back to double digits with under two minutes left in the game.

Georgia had a season-best day from the field, shooting 57 percent from the field, including 50 percent from the behind the three-point arc.

The Bisons were paced offensively by Martin Smith who scored 23 points.

The Bulldogs will return to action on Thursday against Gardner-Webb (5-5) at 11:30 a.m, hosting children from Athens-Clarke County schools. For ticket information, go to Georgiadogs.com.
