The Georgia Bulldogs hosted the Chattanooga Mocs at Stegeman Coliseum for the season opener. Georgia lost to Chattanooga 92-90 in overtime.

2016-17 Season Highlights:
◊ Elected vice chairman of the SEC’s Men’s Basketball Leadership Council in the fall of 2016.
◊ Early in 2016, the SEC introduced new Student-Athlete Leadership Councils in the sports of football and men’s and women’s basketball to provide student-athletes with additional opportunities to engage with campus leaders and conference office staff. The councils supplement the league’s longstanding Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC).
◊ Logged action in 29 games, including a start against Auburn for Senior Day on March 1.
◊ One of 12 Bulldogs to play on three 20-win teams in Georgia Basketball history.
◊ One-fourth of UGA’s winningest class in SEC play (42 league wins) and the second-winningest class overall (80 victories) in 111 seasons of competition on the hardwood.
◊ Scored a season-high four points against Gardner-Webb.
◊ Active on the boards at Ga. Tech, pulling down three rebounds in just three minutes of action.
◊ Missed the Texas A&M game due to a stomach ailment, remaining at the team hotel while the Bulldogs faced the Aggies at Reed Arena.
◊ Grabbed a season-high five rebounds in his final collegiate outing against Belmont in the opening round of the NIT.
2015-16 Season Highlights:
◊ Named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll for the fourth straight year.
◊ Played in all 34 games, with 14 starts.
◊ Averaged 2.1 points and 2.7 rebounds per game in 15.7 minutes of PT each outing.
◊ Significantly increased contributions after logging two starts and 4.9 mpg in his first two seasons.
◊ After logging 20 minutes only once in 42 games played as a freshman a sophomore, did so in 11 outings as a junior. His playing time jumped from 6.2 mpg over first two seasons to 15.7 as a junior.
◊ Posted his first double-digit stat line by grabbing 10 rebounds at Missouri.
◊ Of his 14 starting assignments, 12 were in consecutive outings from the second game of the season (against Murray State on Nov. 20) through the third SEC contest (Jan. 9 at Ole Miss).
◊ Significant contributor in Dec. 19 victory over Georgia Tech, producing what were then career-best efforts for rebounds (eight), minutes played (28), field goals made (three) and field goals attempted (six).
◊ Led UGA on the boards against both Kansas State on Dec. 4 and Georgia Tech on Dec. 19.
◊ Enjoyed a pair of solid outings against Missouri. In Athens on Jan. 6, scored a career-high seven points in 22 minutes. In Columbia on Jan. 20, grabbed a career-best 10 rebounds.
◊ Equaled his career-high offensive output with seven points while also logging his most minutes ever as a Bulldog (29) versus Arkansas on Jan. 23.
2014-15 Season Highlights:
◊ Named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court.
◊ Earned a spot on the SEC Academic Honor Roll for the third consecutive year.
◊ One of several Bulldogs whose roles expanded in the wake of teammates’ injuries.
◊ Logged playing time in 29 of 34 games, including his second career start at No. 1 Kentucky on Feb. 3.
◊ Saw playing time increase considerably due to concussion to Marcus Thornton during the Jan. 27 Vanderbilt game. After logging 80 total minutes (with three DNPs) in the first 19 games of the season, clocked 41 minutes in consecutive games at South Carolina and at Kentucky.
◊ Averaged 4.5 ppg and 3.5 rpg in those contests vs. the Gamecocks and Wildcats.
◊ Grabbed a career-best four rebounds in a career-high 23 minutes of playing time at South Carolina.
◊ Scored a career-high seven points in 18 minutes of action in Lexington.
◊ Posted double-digit minutes during the SEC schedule in six contests, lastly in the regular-season finale at Auburn.
2013-14 Season Highlights:
◊ Named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
◊ Played in 13 games, including nine contests against SEC opposition.
◊ An unexpected starter Feb. 1 at Auburn. Scored his first points as a collegian with a 3-pointer just 47 seconds after tipoff.
2012-13 Season Highlights:
◊ Named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll for first-year student-athletes.
◊ Practiced with the Bulldogs throughout the 2013 season while redshirting.
◊ Coached by Raymond McCallister at Landmark Christian.
◊ Earned first-team Class A All-State honors from the Georgia Sports Writers Association as a senior in 2012 and also was a unanimous All-Region selection.
◊ Helped the War Eagles post a 39-16 record during his junior and senior seasons, including a 20-8 mark in 2012 that was capped by a Round of 16 showing in the Class A state tournament.
◊ Son of Chad Kessler, a four-year Bulldog letterman from 1983-87 who scored 675 career points, won Academic All-America honors and was a fifth-round draft choice of the L.A. Clippers in 1987.
