After two straight weekends on the road against top five ranked SEC opponents (Florida & LSU), Georgia (25-20, 9-12 SEC) will be home for the next two weeks of league play. Georgia plays host to Auburn (25-19, 10-11 SEC) starting Friday at 7:05 p.m. (Fox SportSouth) and then #5 South Carolina visits Athens. The Bulldogs finish SEC action at Alabama.

Georgia avoided getting swept at #4 LSU last week by winning the final game of an SEC series for the first time this season. Junior Earl Daniels notched his first career save as he struck out the NCAA's leading hitter, Raph Rymes (.503), with the bases loaded to end the game. Redshirt freshman Jay Swinford pitched three scoreless innings of relief for his first career win. Georgia carried a lead to the eighth inning in the first two games of the series only to see the Tigers smash home runs for victories.

Junior 3B Curt Powell (.355-2-16) has a 13-game hitting streak. In this stretch, he is batting .400 (22-for-55) with a home run and five RBI. In SEC action, he is batting .333-2-6, and in the LSU series, he is batted .385 (5-for-13) with perfect fielding in 10 total chances . Powell led off last Saturday's game in Baton Rouge with a home run. He was the first Bulldog to do that since Levi Hyams against Arkansas-Little Rock in the 2011 NCAA Corvallis (Ore.) Regional last June.

Freshman OF/DH Justin Bryan crushed two home runs to lead Georgia to a 5-3 win over #4 LSU in Baton Rouge this past Sunday. In his career that spans just 32 at bats, he has nine hits including four home runs and tallied 11 RBI.

Redshirt sophomore LHP Alex Wood did not factor in the decision this past Friday at #4 LSU after the Tigers rallied in the eighth inning off the Bulldog bullpen. For the year, Wood is 5-1 with a 2.69 ERA with 71 strikeouts in 73.2 IP and 2-0, 2.74 in the SEC. The SEC rotation will be remain the same for the third straight series for the Bulldogs with Wood on Friday, senior Michael Palazzone (2-5, 5.40 ERA) on Saturday and freshman Luke Crumley (1-2, 4.44 ERA) on Sunday. Auburn's probable rotation will feature senior RHP Jon Luke Jacobs (5-1, 3.21 ERA) on Friday, freshman left-hander Daniel Koger (3-4, 2.67 ERA) on Saturday while Sunday's starter is TBA.

Freshman OF Hunter Cole (.308-6-17) returned to action in the LSU series. He missed six games with a muscle strain in his side. Against the Tigers, he made his first three career starts in right field after starting 31 games in left field and four in centerfield this season. After going 0-for-8 in the first two games, he  bounced back to go 3-for-5 in Sunday's win to raise his SEC batting average to .343. Also, he had seven putouts and one assists against LSU. For the year, Cole has four assists.

Georgia is one of the top defensive teams in the SEC, fielding .977 overall and .980 in SEC games this year. Those marks are on pace to set a school record for the second straight season.

Before Saturday's game, Georgia will recognize its former baseball lettermen in attendance for Alumni Day and present two achievement awards to former Bulldog standouts.
