Bulldogs Play Host To #2 Vanderbilt
ATHENS-----Georgia (14-24, 3-12 SEC) continues a four-game home stand by playing host to #2 ranked and SEC-leader Vanderbilt (33-5, 14-1 SEC) Friday. Both teams had Tuesday contests with Georgia cruising past Presbyterian 10-1 while the Commodores were upset 10-9 by Tennessee Tech.
Georgia, under the direction of David Perno, is batting .276 with a 4.53 ERA and fielding .974. The Commodores, who are coached by Tim Corbin, are batting .314 with a 2.65 ERA and a .975 fielding percentage. Game times for the series are 7 p.m. Friday, 4:05 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. This Saturday, Georgia will hold its annual Lettermen's Day, and the game will be televised by CSS.
Lettermen's Day April 20
Former Bulldogs from five different decades are returning to Foley Field Saturday as part of the annual Lettermen's Day. The notable lettermen slated to be at the game include: shortstop Reggie Andrews (1953-55) who was the second baseball All-American in school history; Don Woeltjen (1961-63) who pitched the only nine-inning SEC perfect game in league history; All-America catcher Roger Miller (1986-89) who was a part of the school's first College World Series team; pitcher Mike Rebhan (1989-90) who was voted the Most Outstanding Player at the 1990 College World Series in helping Georgia to the national championship, and several members of the 2008 College World Series Finalists. Former Bulldog baseball players United States Senator Johnny Isakson and Tom "Boot" Hunt will be throwing out the first pitch plus a few lettermen will receive special awards before the game.

2012 Georgia-VU Flashback: Vanderbilt won the series 2-1 in Nashville last year. Georgia claimed game one, 1-0 behind a solo home run from Curt Powell off Kevin Ziomek and a stellar pitching performance from Alex Wood (4.1 IP), Chase Hawkins (1.1 IP), Bryan Benzor (2.1 IP) and Blake Dieterich (1 IP) as they scattered seven hits with 12 Ks. Vanderbilt claimed the series with late comebacks in the final two games, scoring three unearned runs in the ninth in game two to win 5-4 and four runs with two outs in the eighth in game three for a 5-3 victory.
Hitters To Watch
Georgia's leading hitter is All-SEC senior third baseman Curt Powell. He is batting .378 with 18 RBI and fielding .924. In SEC action, Powell is batting .344 and fielding .963. Powell is riding a nine-game hitting streak and batting .459 in this stretch (17-for-37). Earlier this year, he had a team-best 13-game hitting streak. In his Bulldog career, Powell has appeared in 154 games including 148 starts with a .338 batting average. Vanderbilt's top hitter is junior second baseman Tony Kemp (.395-0-25) who is 18-for-27 in stolen base attempts.
*Georgia's top RBI man is senior shortstop Kyle Farmer with 35. He is batting .297 and fielding an impressive .974. For his career, Farmer has made 196 starts at shortstop and owns a .967 fielding percentage while batting .310 with 62 doubles and 159 RBI. He ranks in the top 10 in Bulldog history for AB, H, 2B and RBI. The Commodores top RBI producer is senior outfielder Connor Harrell with 52 to go with a team-best eight home runs. Did You Know? Farmer and Vanderbilt junior first baseman Conrad Gregor lead the NCAA with 9 SF.
